Pass on the SAALT Menstrual Health Program
In partnership with SAALT, a B.Corp-certified period care brand, Dreams of the Tropical Youth Uganda is implementing this program with a holistic drive that primarily aims to address the challenge of poor menstrual hygiene in Uganda’s rural learning institutions. The goal is to equip adolescent girls and young women with sexual reproductive health information, including Menstrual Health Management. We conduct training and distribute environmentally friendly sanitary products such as menstrual cups and SAALT wear (knickers). We both believe that access to period care keeps girls in school, breaking the cycle of poverty for generations.

Orphans and Vulnerable Children Support
This program supports the welfare of orphans and vulnerable children. We identify the most vulnerable children and provide them with the opportunity to go to school, for meals, clothes, shoes, access to safe clean drinking water and basic medical care. Several families continue to be struck by the devastating HIV/AIDS effects where we have child-headed households and single mothers. Dreams of the Tropical Youth Uganda is striving to give a ray of hope and an opportunity for a brighter future which may not be easily achieved by children in this condition.
Holiday Boot Camp
We provide life skills training, sports and edutainment for at-risk youth that allow them to cope with challenges and move away from involvement in alcohol and drug abuse, violence and crime.

Annual Youth Health Camp
Rural young people very often have no access to basic health care information and services which affects their decision-making. We partner with other organizations to extend Sexual Reproductive Health services. When we organize free camps, a sizeable number of young people and adults turn up. Our annual health camp services include dental, optical, noncommunicable diseases, family planning, HIV testing and counselling, and messaging on alcohol and drug abuse. We target participants from schools and create engagement through participatory fun activities like games and sports, edutainment, team building, peer-to-peer learning sessions, focused group discussions, dialogues and role models.
Latrines for rural schools
The program is very important because it is aimed at improving the sanitation and hygiene of the teachers’ students, especially girls and the entire community. Water and sanitation are fundamental rights to all and therefore essential for dignity, empowerment and prosperity. However, rural Uganda’s poor sanitation and hygiene as well as unequal access to safe drinking water continue to threaten many lives.

Kyotera Women’s Health Run
This is the largest youth advocacy event in greater Masaka. It takes place every International Women’s Day (8th March) in Kyotera with the aim of amplifying voices and calling on education leaders, local leaders, parents’ government and other key partners to take action to support rural girls’ education rights. It is important to note that the golden opportunity for girls to access education is greatly affected by taboos, misconceptions and the lack of proper training and sanitary products to manage menstruation.
Tree Planting Project
Bringing together our local communities to restore the lost tree cover and live in compassion within all nature. The disappearance of trees led to soil erosion, contaminated waterways, and indigenous communities displaced from their land. As more forests are lost, biodiversity drops, plant and animal species go extinct, and the local communities lose their land. Dreams of the Tropical Youth Uganda fully participate in improving the quality of the natural environment through tree planting.

Youth Skills for Self Sufficiency
A huge chunk of Ugandan youth is unemployed and unemployable due to a lack of access to jobs and a lack of skills to start their jobs. This program aims at creating a trained reliable, skilled competent and work-driven workforce among the youth groups and networks. Young people face considerable challenges in trying to forge a bright future for themselves. We therefore strive to empower young people to succeed and be able to take care of their families.
