Ensuring full access to Reproductive Health services and information will encourage smart life choices. Awareness and prevention is the stronghold of Droty Uganda’s fight against HIV/AIDS.

The first HIV/AIDS case in Uganda was found in Rakai district. Kyotera district was in 2017 curved out of Rakai district. Characteristically, these districts are poverty stricken and reported with higher HIV/AIDS prevalence (12%) young people being the most affected. More behavioural challenges are unwanted pregnancies, sexually transmitted infections, transactional and cross-generational sex that are grossly exploitative, especially for the girl child.

Women of Destiny

We have made it our job to train girls to make their own reusable sanitary pads to keep in school.

Thousands of girls and women in Uganda have their periods every month. However, taboos associated with menstruation combined with an overall culture of silence and socio-economic hardships limits the ability of women and girls to fully and equally participate in society, undermining their overall social status and self-esteem while putting their health at risk.

Annual Youth Health Camp

We partner with organizations that extend free sexual and reproductive health services to address the myriad of health and behavioural complications. We draw participants from secondary schools and create engagement through participatory fun activities like games and sports, edutainment, team building, peer to peer learning sessions, focused group discussions, dialogues and role models to talk to them.

Annual Kyotera Health Run

We rally the community to break the silence and build awareness about the fundamental role that good Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) plays in enabling adolescent girls and young women to reach their full potential. Since 2018, this run draws participants from partner schools, community members and duty bearers calling them to

School Connekt

This exchange project is designed to create a platform that inspires and brings together young people from different socio-economic backgrounds. Young people from established urban schools get to visit their peers in underprivileged rural schools to share experience, dreams, build friendships, and social networks that will benefit them.

Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) Support

This intervention supports the education and welfare of orphans and vulnerable children. Several families continue to be struck by the HIV/AIDS devastating effects where we have more child headed households and single mothers. Droty Uganda strives to give a generation a ray of hope and an opportunity to a brighter future which may not be easily attained by the kind of children they are.

Pass the saalt

We organize free menstrual education and distribution of menstrual cups among underprivileged girls and women. Dreams of the Tropical Youth Uganda partnered with Saalt the B.Corp certified period care brand making menstrual cups, a great sustainable period care solution. Both Droty Uganda and Saalt believe access to quality period care and adequate WASH facilities are a fundamental right.
